Neither Foobar2000 Copilot or Foobar2000 Copilot Lite collects, shares or publishes any personal information about you.

The following app permissions (as listed by released versions of the app) are needed for the app to function properly:

Foobar2000 Copilot Lite

Version 1.1.0.0:

This is the free version of Foobar2000 Copilot.

ID_CAP_NETWORKING:  Used to WiFi communicate with and control your Foobar2000 server. Also used if you access the online user manual thru the app. The user manual is online so it can be readily edited without having to get the app re-certified by Microsoft for each edit. The online manual uses the Google translation widget to provide different language translations.

The flashlight option was removed from Foobar2000 Copilot Lite as well as use of the Microsoft Advertising Control -- so Foobar2000 Copilot Lite only requires the ID_CAP_NETWORKING permission.

Only the adDuplex cross promotion control is used in the Lite version. For adDuplex's Privacy Statement see : https://adduplex.com/privacy-policy

Foobar2000 Copilot

Versions 1.2.0.0, 1.3.0.0:

Because these versions use the Microsoft Advertising control to display ads, they require, as per Microsoft, the following capabilities/ permissions.

Also because there is only one load module for both the TRIAL version (which displays ads) and the PAID version (which does not display ads) these permissions are still necessitated for the PAID version in the store listing.

These are the Microsoft advertising requirements:

  • ID_CAP_NETWORKING:  Used to connect to the Internet to retrieve advertisements. Also see below for additional areas where the app uses this capability
  • ID_CAP_WEBBROWSERCOMPONENT:  Used to display an Internet advertisement using a web browser window.
  • ID_CAP_IDENTITY_DEVICE:  Provides access to device specific information such as an anonymous device ID, or the manufacturer or model name. Used for advertisement quality reasons.
  • ID_CAP_IDENTITY_USER: Gives an app the ability to use an anonymous Microsoft account to identify the user anonymously. Used to track advertisement quality.
  • ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_PHOTO:  Used if the user clicks on an advertisement which provides an option to save a photo to the Camera Roll or Saved Pictures folder.
  • ID_CAP_PHONEDIALER:  If the user clicks on an advertisement and a phone number is provided, this capability allows the user to call the advertiser.

Note that most of the permissions required by the app are a result of using the Microsoft Advertising control.

If a Microsoft ad is not available, an adDuplex cross promotion ad is displayed. For adDuplex's Privacy Statement see : https://adduplex.com/privacy-policy

Versions 1.2.0.0, 1.3.0.0:

ID_CAP_NETWORKING:  Used to WiFi communicate with and control your Foobar2000 server. Also used if you access the online user manual thru the app. Starting with v1.3.0.0, the user manual was put online -- so it can be readily edited without having to get the app re-certified by Microsoft. The online manual uses the Google translation widget to provide different language translations.

ID_CAP_ISV_CAMERA:  Used for the flashlight option in the app -- used to turn the LED on/off . The LED option is a part of the CAMERA module. The camera module is only accessed for control of the LED light and nothing else.

Versions 1.2.0.0:

ID_CAP_MICROPHONE,  ID_CAP_SPEECH_RECOGNITION:  Used for the Voice Search option in search. Voice search was removed in version 1.3.0.0 -- so these permissions are no longer needed.
